One of our assignments was to write a 10 minute extract of an original episode from a personal favourite sitcom. I chose One Foot in the Grave, as I feel it’s a series that is close to my style of writing. David Renwick is one of my heroes as is his former comedy writing partner Andrew Marshall, who wrote another of my favourite Britcoms, 2point4 Children.
Both shows share many similarities as they take familiar domestic sitcom tropes and mix them with pathos, the surreal and even dark comedy. Therefore, as a tribute, I chose to crossover the two shows; I'm sure fans of both shows will notice.
