Ice Daze

A 10 minute script, if I was ever asked to write a Twilight Zone episode, this would be it.

Set in a Dystopian future, this is probably the script written in the last year that’s closest to my voice and the kind of themes and issues I’d like to explore.

The second link is an accompanying essay looking at some of the writers whose ideas, themes and styles inspired me to write this particular script.

Bridget Jones's Diary: The Lost Entry

I fell in love with Radio writing in the last year and one of the assignments was to write a scene adapting one of three novels; Hamlet, Bridget Jones's Diary and Oedipus.

I chose Bridget Jones as it was not only the one I enjoyed the most, but also as I wanted to portray her as a bit of a bunny boiler, one that’s not seen in either the books or movies.

Gogglebox: 'Lotto Abbey'

Another assignment was to write a sketch based upon an article in the newspaper. I came across one about a couple who for many years used the same Lottery numbers and in the one the week they forgot to buy a ticket, it turned out their numbers were the winning ones!

Having started out writing satire and sketch comedy, this was my opportunity to shine.

One Foot in the Grave

One of our assignments was to write a 10 minute extract of an original episode from a personal favourite sitcom. I chose One Foot in the Grave, as I feel it’s a series that is close to my style of writing. David Renwick is one of my heroes as is his former comedy writing partner Andrew Marshall, who wrote another of my favourite Britcoms, 2point4 Children.

Both shows share many similarities as they take familiar domestic sitcom tropes and mix them with pathos, the surreal and even dark comedy. Therefore, as a tribute, I chose to crossover the two shows; I'm sure fans of both shows will notice.
